Mayor Hambel joins ranks of Little Sprouts' Celebrity Readers'
Sparta - The children of Little Sprouts Day Care Center recently welcomed Sparta Mayor Ailish Hambel as the latest “Celebrity Reader” to its facility in Newton. Mayor Hambel read the books, George’s Store and Henry and Mudge, to her enthusiastic audience made up of children and some of their parents. Each month, Project Self-Sufficiency invites Sussex County residents to its day care center to be Celebrity Readers and to visit with the children in an effort to instill a love of reading. “It’s wonderful to introduce the love of reading, literature and books to children of this age,” Mayor Hambel commented. “Anything that helps children to understand the pleasure of reading starting at a young age, I’m all in favor of.” She added that she appreciates the efforts of Project Self-Sufficiency in the community. “It is a great agency,” she said. Project Self-Sufficiency has hosted numerous Celebrity Readers over the past three years. Among them are Tammy Horsfield, president of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, and Joseph Camaratta, superintendent, of the Sussex County Vo-Tech Schools.
