Mike Smith is Byram's top b-e-e

    Byram - Seventh- and eighth-graders in the Byram Intermediate School recently participated in the National Geography Bee, a nationwide contest for elementary school students. A preliminary contest at the school level was held to determine the six seventh-grade and five eighth-grade finalists who advanced to the next level of competition. The seventh-grade finalists were: Becky Schorling, Caitlyn McGuire, Parker Waterhouse, Jared Turner, Matt Montgomery, and Devony DiMattia. The eighth-grade finalists were: Mike Smith, Corey Pruce, Brian Endahl, Matt Chletsos and Chelsea Iorlano. Mike Smith, an eighth-grader, was the overall school winner. Caitlyn McGuire, a seventh-grader, was the runner-up. Mike took a written qualifying test to compete for advancement from the school to the state level. The National Geographic Society provides the questions and answers for this challenging test of our students’ knowledge.
