Newton Halloween parade and costume contest

    NEWTON — Monday, Oct. 31, marks the annual Halloween parade and costume contest set to take place on Spring Street at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored and organized by the Newton Volunteer Fire Department, Newton Moose Lodge 432, along with the Ladies Order of the Moose, Newton Chapter 1830, and includes cash prizes for costumes and candy. The event will also feature light refreshments donated by Don Meng, owner of The Craft Creators. “The parade has taken place for at least twenty years," said Mike Teets, Newton Fire Chief. "It's a great event for kids and adults too. Line up will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Eastern Plaza Lot on Union Street.
