Newton Hospital to receive Red Cross Quinn Award
NEWTON - The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross will present Newton Memorial Hospital with its highest honor when it holds its 2006 Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. Award Celebration, an annual black-tie gala to be held Friday, Nov. 3, at Perona Farms in Andover. “The Quinn Award is the Chapter’s Oscar and Emmy combined. It is a special award given in memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1917. The award is presented in recognition of the same spirit of giving to our community that characterized our founder, and in appreciation of exceptional service to her Chapter in our own time. Given annually, this is our Chapter’s highest award. All of our Quinn Award recipients have made significant contributions to our local Red Cross. This year is no exception,” said Patricia Day, Executive Director. “This year,” she said, “we are pleased to recognize the contributions of Newton Memorial Hospital, a truly outstanding community partner. Sharing the goal of helping people in need, the hospital supports the work of the Red Cross on many levels, from simply bringing extra blankets to a shelter to facilitating mental health debriefing sessions for deployed disaster services volunteer.” Honorary Quinn Award Dinner chairmen Larry Condit and Joe Quinn urged the Sussex County community to join them in honoring Newton Memorial Hospital, and by doing so take advantage of this opportunity to publicly congratulate the 2006 Quinn Award honoree and to join with Newton Memorial Hospital in supporting the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross is where people mobilize to help their neighbors in emergencies. Each year, hundreds of friends, neighbors, and family gain the skills they need to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their homes, communities, and world. Your gifts and donations to Sussex Red Cross are re-invested in programs and services right here in Sussex County. The Red Cross is not a Government agency, but must rely on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work across the street, across the country, and around the world.
