Newton Lady Braves U14 team, places second in tournament

KITTATINNY— The Newton Lady Braves U14 team finished in second place in the Kittatinny Spring Fling Softball Tournament. The squad seeded seventh after pool-play games. In single-elimination play, the Lady Braves defeated High Point Heat Black, then edged the third-seeded Hudson County Rebels, 3-2, and outlasted a tough, number two-seeded Sizzlin’ Iselin squad, 6-5, with a come-from-behind victory in the seventh inning to advance to the finals. The Lady Braves’ run ended as they fell to the number one-seeded White Plains Express Pony team in the Championship game.
