Newton Memorial cardiologist recertified in internal medicine

NEWTON — Newton Memorial Hospital has announced that Dr. William J. Scarpa Jr. has successfully achieved the requirements for recertification in Internal Medicine. Scarpa is also board certified in Cardiology, his primary specialty. Since both certifications are current, he remains a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Scarpa received his medical degree from St. Georges University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, before completing a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Lenox Hill Hospital and a fellowship in Nuclear Cardiology at St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital, both located in New York City. He is part of Newton Memorial Hospital’s Cardiac Team and often works from the Charles L. Tice Heart Center for Diagnostic Services, which is located at Newton Memorial. He also has offices in Newton and Sparta. Scarpa has been a Newton Memorial Hospital on-staff physician and an active member of the Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation since 1991 . He is chairman of the Newton Memorial Hospital Fundraising committee, chairman of the Foundation’s annual Festival of Lights celebration and chairman of the upcoming 75th Anniversary Gala.
