NEWTON — Newton Memorial Hospital’s Director of Laboratory Services Ruth Pollison was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the CLMA, an international, 5,000-member group devoted to lab management. Pollison was further honored when the CLMA awarded her its PAC Donor of the Year Award, given annually to only one person in the organization. “I was surprised and honored,” Pollison said. Pollison is a past president of the New Jersey Chapter of the CLMA and also served as the Council of Chapter Leaders Chair last year. She has been a speaker at the National CLMA Conference, been published in the CLMR, an educational magazine for laboratory professionals, and has also given a national teleconference for the College of American Pathologists. Her involvement in these areas ultimately led to members selecting her to win the prestigious Donor of the Year Award. Pollison has been an employee at Newton Memorial Hospital since graduating from Douglas College. She has worked in all phases of laboratory management, outreach development, customer service, compliance, computer development and bio-terrorism preparedness. She also holds an M.S. in hospital administration, which she earned from New School for Social Research in New York City.
