    July 5 At 11:39 a.m. Newton police officers were summoned to the parking lot of the Newton ShopRite after reports of a vehicle striking a parked car. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Lesley Galbreath, 58, of Dingmans Ferry PA. She was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, careless driving, and failure to report an accident. July 6 At 6:15 p.m., Newton police officers stopped a vehicle on Spring Street operated by Israel Cummings, 21, of Newton, for equipment and vehicle registration violations. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Cummings for possession/distribution of a controlled and dangerous substance (cocaine), and distribution within a school and public housing zones. The investigation was aided in the use of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Canine “Gunny.” Cummings was arrested and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail set by the Honorable William McGovern III. At 10:45 p.m., a 15-year-old juvenile form Columbia was arrested for possession of a controlled and dangerous substance (marijuana) after a traffic stop on High Street in Newton. The juvenile was a passenger in a vehicle with three others including the driver, Mark Hoyer, 21, of Andover Township, who was cited for possession of an open container of alcohol. The Sussex County Sheriff’s Canine “Gunny” assisted in the investigation. All parties were released pending court appearances. At 10:10 p.m., Robert Fountain, 37, of Newton, was arrested on Spring Street after Newton police officers learned of a warrant issued out of Paterson. Fountain was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $430 bail.
