On Saturday, March 24, at 1:34a.m.; police officers were summoned to the area of Main Street to investigate a complaint of a white Ford pick-up truck being operated in an erratic manner. Subsequently, the vehicle in question was observed by police to be turning onto Mill Street from Water Street and failing to keep right on multiple occasions. Investigation led to the arrest of 42 year-old James Fletcher of Newton, for careless driving, driving while suspended, and driving while intoxicated. Fletcher was processed, issued summonses for the offenses, and released pending his scheduled appearance in Newton Municipal Court at 6 p.m. on April 10.
