    July 30 Newton police officers were conducting foot patrol at 10:22 p.m. on Spring Street when their attention was drawn to an argument between a 15-year old female and a 16-year old male near the area of Barrister’s bar. The officers intervened in the dispute. During the course of the investigation, the female juvenile became aggressive in her demeanor towards the officers, at times pushing her hand to their chests. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and, during the course of her being taken into custody, she was aided by the 16-year old male, who attempted to push the officers away from her. Both were taken into custody and charged with juvenile delinquency in connection with the following offenses. The 15-year old female, of Newton, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault (assault on police officers). The 16-year old male, of Montague, was charged with interfering with lawful function, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault (assault on police officers). Both were released to their parents pending adjudication in family court. July 31 At 10:26 p.m., police officers were summoned to the area of Trinity Street and Union Place to investigate a report of a traffic accident. The subsequent investigation revealed that Rebecca Boyer, 27, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., was operating a 1998 Toyota traveling westbound on Trinity Street when she reportedly looked away from the road, focusing on her cell phone, and struck a parked vehicle near 65 Trinity St. Boyer was arrested at the scene after officers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. She was charged with careless driving, driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a breath test, and driving while suspended. She was released pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
