On Sunday, Jan. 14, at 3:12 a.m. police officers responded to an activated burglar alarm at Gormley’s Mobil on Spring Street. When they arrived, officers saw a broken pane in the garage window. Asearch of the building was conducted but no one was inside. The investigation led to a suspect. Richard Holmberg III, 28, of Spring Street, Newton, was charged with burglary and criminal mischief. He was taken to the Sussex County jail in lieu of bail set by Hon. Judge John E. Mulhern. Nothing is believed to have been taken as the defendant fled the building after suspecting he tripped the alarm.
