A burglar alarm was triggered at the G&S Deli, 267 Spring St. on Monday Nov.5, at 12:32 a.m. A ladder was seen propped up against the building and it police discovered someone had tried to gain entry into the business through the roof and then fled when they activated the security alarm. The suspect caused damage to the roof hatch door prior to setting off the alarm. Police recovered a knife on the rooftop that was suspected of being used to pry the entryway door. A search was conducted with the assistance of Sussex County Sheriff’s K9 unit which led police directly to the nearby residence of Dwayne R. Finklea, a 49-year old unemployed resident of 21 Kelsey Ave. Finklea was located outside his residence and taken into custody at approximately 2:32 a.m.. He was charged with the following: criminal attempt of burglary, a third degree crime, criminal mischief and possession of burglar’s tools, both disorderly persons offenses. Finklea was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail set at $9,500 with no 10 percent option.
