    Newton -Mark Matthew Peterson and Clinton James Plaza, both of Newton, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Undergraduate students earning a 3.0 or higher academic average for the quarter are eligible to be named to the dean’s list at the school, also known as Georgia Tech, attended by nearly 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Meredith J. Mayes of Newton has been named to the dean’s list at Albright College in Reading, Pa., for academic achievement during the 2005-06 fall semester. She is among the 392 Albright students who attained at least a 3.5 grade point average to be named to the list. Mayes is a junior biology major and graduate of Newton High School. Founded in 1856, Albright College is a nationally ranked, private college with a rigorous liberal arts curriculum with an interdisciplinary focus. The college enrolls 1,650 undergraduates in traditional programs, and another 500 adult students in accelerated degree and graduate programs. Meghan Kohl of Andover was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. Kohl is a senior majoring in retailing. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.
