Pet project

Fifth graders in Mrs. Kurz’s classs at the Valley Road School in Stanhope have begun the first stage of “Taking Care of Your Community by Taking Care of Your Pet,” a service-learning project supported by the N.J. Medical Association. The main focus of the program is to prepare students to take an active approach toward issues of social concerns by understanding their pets. The fifth grade students have begun to find out what the first grade students know about animal care and what types of pets they have. They are also asking for interesting stories the first graders might have about their pets. (Photo provided)
