Hackettstown — Donaldson's Greenhouse and Nursery on Airport Road in Hackettstown will be hosting their 3rd Annual Plant Auction, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. For those unfamiliar with this type of event, it is an opportunity to offer homeowners and professionals substantial savings on blocks of plants and materials. The highest bidder walks away with the plants and materials bid on, at the absolute lowest prices of the season. Since the fall season is a great time for planting, the auction is a way to enjoy a day in the country while saving money for a dream landscape. August (Augie) Binder, professional auctioneer, will again conduct this year's auction. The plants that are to be auctioned off will be in groups and, in many cases, the buyer can choose as many or as few as needed from a vast selection of quality perennials, roses, shrubs and trees. Listings of ‘what's up on the block' will be made available to those in attendance, making it easier to identify items of interest. Homeowners as well as landscape professionals planning fall projects will benefit from the auction. Preregistration is required, any day prior to the start of the auction. On Friday, Sept. 16, all blocks and lots of plants may be previewed, and further details will then be made available. Donaldson's Greenhouse and Nursery, located at 178 Airport Road in Hackettstown, is open daily, year-round, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. For directions or more details, call 908-852-7314.
