Police blotter Sparta
Oct. 29 12:23 p.m. Sparta Poke responded to a report on Saddle Ridge Court of an assault against a pizza deliverer. The victim, Ivan Bimbolov, was in the process of making a delivery when he was assaulted by two men who exited a white Ford Escort after what may have been a “road rage” incident. Bimbolov suffered abrasions on his face, elbow and right leg. He described his assailants to the responding patrols. A search of the immediate area produced no results. The investigation was turned over to Detective Tenance Mulligan, who arrested of Eric Mattson, age 18, of Hampton and a 17 year old male of Lafayette. Both individuals were charged with Simple Assault. Both were released pending required court appearances. November 3, 10:07 p.m. Patrolman Joseph Antonello was on routine patrol on Route 15, when he observed a Nissan Pathfinder operated in an erratic manner. The driver, Daniel Martini, age 46, of Branchville, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as motor vehicle offenses and taken to Sparta police headquarters. Martini was released pending a required court appearance. Nov. 4, l:28 a.m. Patrolman Brian Hassloch was on routine patrol on Sparta Avenue, when he observed a Ford Probe operated in an erratic manner. The stop led to the arrest of its three occupants for possession of marijuana. They were transported to Sparta PD for processing. The driver, Victor Albert, 23, of Newton was also charged with Failure to maintain lane, careless driving and possession of a controlled dangerous substance while in a motor vehicle. The two passengers charged were: Joshua Southworth, age 18, of Newton and Bradford Speer, age 24, of Lafayette. All three men were released pending court appearances. Patrolman Richard Smith was dispatched to assist with a State Police motor vehicle stop on Route 15. Trooper Ortiz told them he had witnessed the stopped vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through the Hurdtown section of Jefferson Township with a second vehicle trying to keep up. Police learned after the traffic stop second vehicle has been “sideswiped” by the first. The driver of the stopped vehicle was identified as Richard Paduani, 40, of Paterson. He was charged with driving while intoxicated. The front-seat passenger was identified as Tara Rodriguez, 28, of Hamburg. There were three young children in the back seat of the car age 1,2 and 3 without proper child restraints. Paduani was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with driving with a suspended license, careless driving, failure to notify change of address, failure to exhibit a drivers license and having unrestrained children in the car. He was also issued a disorderly persons complaint for driving under the influence with minor children in the vehicle. Jefferson Police issued Paduani summonses for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, reckless driving and three summonses for un-restrained children. Tara Rodriguez was issued summonses for allowing an intoxicated person to operate a motor vehicle and for allowing a suspended driver to operate a motor vehicle. They were released pending required court appearances. November 5, 12:55 a.m. On November 5, at approximately 4 p.m., Patrolman Frank Schomp responded to the Stop and Shop parking lot on a report of an unconscious female in a motor vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Karen McCarroll, 49, of Budd Lake. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving and transported to Newton Hospital where she was treated and released. She was released pending a court date in Sparta.
