NewtoN — Ed Susco, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with the chapter’s Executive Director, Patricia Day, have formally announced the recipients of the 2011 Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn, Sr. Award. The honorees are Donald P. Heller, Retired Selective Insurance Company Assistant Vice President of Underwriting, David L. Johnson, Senior Partner at Morris, Downing and Sherred, LLP and Shawn Stinnett, Senior Marketing Consultant at ClearChannel Radio. The three honorees will be the guests of honor at the Quinn Award Celebration, an elegant black-tie affair to be held on Friday, October 14 at Perona Farms. Each of the honorees has served three consecutive terms as members of the board of directors. Each has been appointed by their fellow board members to serve a term as chairman. Each has done something exceptional above and beyond board service. “Our three honorees epitomize the volunteer involvement envisioned by Clara Barton, who founded the Red Cross in 1881,” said Executive Director Day. “Clara Barton foresaw community leaders stepping forward to spread the word about the organization’s great humanitarian mission, to raise money to fund that mission, and to take the lead in the expansion of the Red Cross programs and services in our local communities." Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and dancing to follow at 7:30 p.m. This year’s event also features music by M.C. Ricky G. and a silent auction. Tickets are still available. Supporters can place a special message to the honorees in the commemorative ad journal.
