Sparta — During this holiday season, students at Reverend Brown Memorial School helped the community through two special projects. The students in the RESPECT club and Student Council helped the Pass-It-Along organization by organizing a food drive and a toy drive at the school. Over the past two weeks, students in all grades donated over two hundred toys and hundreds of food items. These items were given to Pass-It-Along to be used within the Sussex County community. The younger students made special stockings to give to children at Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton. So the students could learn about how these stockings would make the Christmas season nicer for children in the community, Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency, spoke to them about how this organization helps families in our area. Project Self-Sufficiency has served more than 15,000 Sussex County families in need.
