Ronetco scholarships given to Rosen, Hnyda

Byram - Amanda Rosen of Rockaway and Sean Hnyda of Andover have received $2,000 scholarships from Ronetco Supermarkets. Rosen is the daughter of the ShopRite of Byram’s pharmacist-in-charge, Adrienne Rosen, R.Ph. This is the second consecutive year she has been presented the Distinguished Achievement Award. Hnyda, a ShopRite of Byram associate, was awarded the Thomas and Vincenia Romano Scholarship, named in honor of Ronetco’s founders. Rosen’s brothers, Brad and Sam, have collectively been awarded five previous Ronetco scholarships totaling $8,000. Their mother has been associated with Ronetco since 1988. Rosen will enter her sophomore year at Duke University, Durham, N.C. in the fall. A psychology major, she has been manager for the Duke women’s basketball team, played field hockey, volunteered at a local elementary school and made the dean’s list for both semesters. Hnyda will attend Rutgers State University in New Brunswick in the fall, pursuing a degree in education with a concentration in English. He recently graduated from Sussex County Community College, where he acted in the college’s initial two theatre productions, Godspell and Reunion: An Epic in Miniature, and was president of the psychology club and a member of the education club. He was also a Student Government Association representative to the academic affairs meetings and participated in the Hurricane Katrina relief concert. He is a 2003 graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High School. This year, Ronetco awarded its employees or their children nine scholarships totaling $12,500, and awarded over $81,000 in college tuition reimbursement last year. All Ronetco associates are eligible for tuition reimbursement.
