Safely dispose of old medications

| 15 Feb 2012 | 09:56

It can be environmentally unsafe to flush expired over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Throwing them in the trash can contaminate landfills. Join the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office, Prosecutor’s Office, The NJ State Police, The Andover Twp., Byram, Franklin, Hardyston, Hopatcong, Newton, Ogdensburg, Sparta and Vernon police departments and The Center for Prevention & Counseling in a county-wide prescription drug disposal day. This initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft and is a safe and responsible way to dispose of unwanted or outdated medications while protecting your family, community and the environment. Residents can visit local collection sites in Andover Township, Byram, Franklin, Hardyston, Hopatcong, Lafayette, Montague, Newton, Ogdensburg, Sparta and/or Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This service is free and anonymous. For a list of the many collection sites, visit www.centerforprevention.org. For more information, 973-383-4787 or becky@centerforprevention.org.
