Saint Clare's Miracles campaign over $27 million mark

DENVILLE Candor Construction Group, an Elmwood Park-based company specializing in construction management and general contracting, has made a gift of $250,000 to Saint Clare’s Health System’s Miracles capital campaign. The donation has put the campaign over the $27 million mark toward its Phase One goal of $30 million. “We are deeply grateful to Candor Construction and its owners, Dennis and Susan Ulversoy, for this very generous gift,” said Gary J. Blan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Clare’s Health System. “Candor has been a business associate of ours on several major projects and the company has also been an active community leader for many years. This gift will go a long way toward helping us to achieve our ultimate goal for the Miracles campaign.” Ulversoy said that the issue of quality healthcare was an important factor in his company’s decision to support the campaign. “Saint Clare’s has been providing outstanding medical care and healthcare services to northwestern New Jersey for more than half a century,” he said. “As a resident of this community, as well as a business person, I recognize the important role that Saint Clare’s plays in enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives in this region. The projects that will be supported by the Miracles campaign are vitally needed and will strengthen Saint Clare’s ability to provide quality health care for years to come.” Specializing in health care construction projects, Candor has 25 years’ experience in construction management and general contracting. In addition to Saint Clare’s, Candor has worked with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City; Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.; St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, N.J.; and North Shore University Hospital in Lake Success, N.Y. Saint Clare’s Miracles capital campaign is the largest campaign in the health system’s history. Launched publicly in May 2006, the campaign has received more than 1,200 gifts and pledges totaling more than $27 million. The eventual goal of the campaign will be $50 million over the next several years. The funds raised will be invested in a number of major facilities and projects, including: The Katena Center for Mother and Child (the new maternity center in Denville); the new Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatrics Center in Denville; new emergency departments at the Denville, Dover and Sussex hospitals; a new cancer center; and enhanced behavioral health programs for children and adults.
