BYRAM — Business students at Sussex County Community College (SCCC) spent Nov. 15-16 being mentored on location by Bradley Boyle, owner of SALT Gastropub in Byram. Boyle shared advice and experiences with the students on what it takes to open maintain a restaurant. Boyle formerly owned the Spring Street restaurant Bula, where he also served as head chef, before closing it to open SALT, the first gastropub in New Jersey. Since then he has expanded SALT to include a catering service and most recently, a culinary studio. Boyle also competed in the Food Network program Chopped. Boyle told the students how he got his start and what was required of him as he worked his way to where he is now. "The students gained tremendous real experience speaking with a successful chef and restaurateur," said Anna Levien, adjunct professor at SCCC.
