BYRAM-Superintendent of the Byram Township Schools, Mr. Joseph Pezak, indicated that plans are complete to receive approximately 1,200 elementary school children on opening day of school, Monday, Sept. 7. Parents/guardians of children of elementary school age and new to the community are asked to register their children for the coming school year. Registration for the coming school year is currently under way from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration will not be accepted on opening day. Their teachers will be on hand to receive them at school. Parents/guardians are discouraged from bringing their kindergarten children to school themselves. Parents/guardians of kindergarten children are asked to pin a nametag on their child with the child's name and teacher's name carried on the tag. Parents/guardians are reminded that bus routes, times and locations of bus stops will be mailed to your home during the summer. Children should be at their respective bus stops five minutes prior to their stated bus time and, on boarding, will be checked by the bus driver against loading list. Unless it is absolutely necessary, parents/guardians should refrain from driving their children to or from school since a congested traffic pattern in the vicinity of the school bus loading area creates a potential safety hazard. Parents/guardians who find it necessary to pick up their child in the afternoon should not plan to do so until the end of class time. The school cafeteria will be open on the first day of school in both schools for children in grades 1-8. The cost of a student lunch is $1.60, a la carte milk $.40 and kindergarten milk $.20. Children in kindergarten may take part in the milk program. Parents/guardians are asked to provide children with a snack.
