Scouting for good

Sussex County — Scouting troops across the area are pitching in over the holidays to provide food, gifts and services to members of the community in need. Byram Cub Scout Pack 276 Byram Cub Scout Pack 276 created a giving tree at SALT Gastropub in Byram and Classic Bagel in Stanhope that they decorated with handmade ornaments. Members of the community can take the ornaments as gifts from the pack. Attached to each ornament is a tag with a gift request from a less fortunate child in the area. Members of the community can fulfill the request and return the tag and the unwrapped gift to the pack's gift boxes that are located next to the giving trees by Dec. 15. Green Girl Scout Troop 5004 Green Girl Scout Troop 5004 sang Brownie and Thanksgiving-themed songs for the residents of the House of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Hackettstown. Homemade cookies made by the girls and their families were shared at the event. Thanksgiving themed hats were also shared with the residents. Stillwater Girl Scout Troop 710 Stillwater Girl Scout Troop 710 went on a shopping trip to purchase food for a local family in need.
