Seven arrested in drug sweep

    On Wednesday, May 16, members of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, Franklin Police Department, N.J. State Police, and Hamburg Police Department concluded a three-month investigation involving the distribution of crack cocaine. According to police, arrest warrants were issued with multiple suspects arrested for the Distribution of C.D.S. crack cocaine. The sweep involved the municipalities of Franklin, Hamburg, and Wantage and were conducted by members of the Franklin-Hardyston-Vernon Police Critical Response Unit, N.J. State Police. Hamburg Police Department, and the Sussex County Sheriffs Department. The suspects arrested for Distribution of C.D.S. were: Sandy Grimm, age 48, of Franklin; Andrew Darezzi, age 52, of Franklin; Frank Vandermark, age 56, of Franklin; Rae Ann Royce, age 43, of Hamburg; Frank Crane age 32 of Hamburg; Minnie Smith, age 33, of Hamburg. All suspects were lodged in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility pending arraignment. Additionally James Burd, age 43, of Franklin was arrested during the sweep for possession of drug paraphernalia and released pending a municipal court hearing in Franklin Borough. Additional arrests from the investigation are still pending.
