Shimel is new vet at Newton Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Kevin T. Shimel of Hoboken has joined the staff of Newton Veterinary Hospital. His responsibilities include diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medication, performing surgeries and interpreting radiographs and blood work. He was an analytical chemist in the pharmaceutical industry for several years before attending Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduating in 1996. During his 13 years as a veterinarian, Shimel has worked as an emergency clinician, a general practitioner and also spent some years in an exclusively feline practice. Shimel has bred, owned and trained Borzoi (also known as Russian Wolfhounds) for almost 30 years and is an AKC dog show judge.
