Skylands Bank to merge with Central Jersey Institution

    Hackettstown - Officials of Fulton Financial Corp announced the merger of Skylands Community Bank which has several branches in Sussex County, with Somerset Valley Bank, headquartered in Somerville. The two banks have little overlapping territory according to Fulton spokesperson Laura Wakeley, so no reduction in force or office closures are expected. Skylands has 12 branches and 110 employees and holds $200 million in deposits. The merged bank will keep the name Skylands Community Bank. Mike Halpin, president and chief executive officer of Skylands will become chairman and CEO of the new bank.
