Sparta girl in theater production
Sparta n Fiona Kyle of Sparta portrays Romaine Patterson in the County College of Morris production of The Laramie Project. Performances begin on Wednesday, May 2 and run through Saturday, May 5. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Community Center Davidson Room. The County College of Morris Performing Arts Department is presenting this theatrical experience based on 200 interviews with people who lived in Laramie, Wyo., the town where Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay man was severely beaten and left to die. Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie over a two year period following the 1998 beating and trial of the two young men accused of killing Shepard. The Laramie Project is a theatrical collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
