Angela Brown of Sparta earns PA athletic conference honors
SPARTA - Angela Brown of Sparta was one of only two players on the Bloomsburg University Huskies women’s soccer team to earn first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors. Playing in her rookie campaign, Brown anchored a Bloomsburg defense that allowed 170 shots, compared to 224 for the Huskies, and had a goals against average of 1.43. The Huskies’ defense also held opponents to 8.5 shots per game, while Bloomsburg’s attack averaged 11.2. Bloomsburg finished the season with a 6-10-4 record, 3-6-3 in the PSAC East and was fourth in the overall standings for the PSAC East conference. Sophomore Brittany McKew (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) also earned first-team All-PSC recognition, while Christina Mazurek (Hatfield/North Penn) earned second-team honors. McKew, scored four goals in 2005, including two game-winning goals.
