Belvidere High School defeated Newton High School in varsity field hockey on Friday, October 4, 2019. The final score was 1-0. The game took place at Newton High School.
This was the second round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament. The Newton Braves and the Belvidere County Seaters held each other scoreless for most of regulation time.
Ellie Kardos scored in the second half for Belvidere. Olivia Zmyewski provided the assist on the goal. Goalie Kiera Gately made 15 saves.
Goalie Abby Berkowitz made three stops for Newton.
