Hopatcong 49, Roxbury 48 Hopatcong edged Roxbury 49-48 in the semifinals of the its own Hopatcong Holiday Tournament only to fall to Voorhees 69-47 in the title game. Mike Tobin, who riddled the cords for 32 points in the win over the Gaels, was limited to eight points by the Vikings from Hunterdon County as Nick Del Corpo netted a team-high 14 points, including a quartet of treys. Passaic Valley 48, PJ 35 Pope John fell to Passaic Valley 48-35 in the championship game of the Passaic Valley Tournament contested in Little Falls. The Lions edged Belleville 45-44 in the semifinals when Sam Mushman dropped a layup through the rim with eight ticks remaining on the game clock. Mushman netted 15 points while teammate Chad Bucur tallied a game-high 18 points. In the title contest, Mushman scored 17 points but the Lions could not overcome a 21-10 run by the Hornets in the third quarter. Lenape 58, St. Bernards 46 Lenape Valley toppled Gill St. Bernards 58-46 in the first round of the Gill St. Bernards Holiday Tournament in Gladstone as Dan Bitondo scored a team-high 18 points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Chris Carl chipped in with 14 points and four steals while Andrew Ciampaglio netted 11 points. In the championship encounter against Columbia of Essex County, the Rangers fourth quarter rally fell short in a 55-45 loss to the Cougars. Carl led the Patriots with 18 points while Ciampaglio pumped 15 through the iron. Sparta 54, Morris 46 Sparta defeated Morris Catholic 54-46 in the third place consolation game of the J.P. Flynn Tournament played in Morris Township. Colby Thompson netted a game-high 16 points with Luis Velez flipping a dozen into the basket.
