High Point 0, Kittatinny 0 (2OT) High Point has gone to overtime in four straight games, tying three and posting a 3-2 win over Newton on Tuesday at St. Paul's Abbey in Newton. On Friday, the Wildcats battled Kittatinny to a scoreless draw following two scoreless OT periods. In the win over the Braves, senior Alex Malcolm made a impressive return after being sidelined by an ankle injury suffered in the opening game. Trailing 2-1 at the halftime break, Malcolm netted the tying goal in the second half to send the outcome to overtime. In the second OT period, Malcolm headed a cross from Frank Mobilio into the Braves' teepee for the game-winning tally and has been named the SCIL Player of the Week. Shane Bosms scored the Wildcats' first goal at 29:47 sandwiched around a pair of Newton goals by Luke Sperling. Vernon 1, Scotch Plains 0 Vernon edged Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1-0 in a mild upset when James Gibson headed in a cross off a free kick from Andrew Tarantino for the only tally as the Union County powerhouse suffered its first setback after five wins. Goalie Conrad Rusnak stopped nine shots on goal as Vernon improved to 4-1-1. Lenape 3, Hopatcong 2 Trailing 1-0, Lenape Valley rebounded with back-to-back-to-back goals and defeated Hopatcong 3-2. Anthony Mainero scored twice with Tom Benack chipping in with a goal and assist as the Patriots upped their record to 3-2. Brandon Huling and Luis Silva tallied goals for the Chiefs who dropped to 1-3-2. Sparta 1, Wallkill 0 (2OT) Greg Miller stopped six shots on goal as Sparta edged Walkill Valley 1-0 in overtime to up its record to 4-0-1. Tommy McCormick headed in a chip shot from Rob Arena in the second OT period. Pope John 4, Jefferson 1 Pope John rolled to a 4-1 win over Jefferson in Sparta. Pat Maloney tallied a pair of goals with Courtney Morris adding a goal and assist. Peter Altenburg had opened the scoring for the Lions with less than six minutes remaining until the halftime break, while Connor Phalon was credited with two assists.
