County Sports Hall of Fame to meet Jan. 17
Newton - The next meeting of the Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Newton VFW. The new slate of officers for 2006 is composed of Mike Caldarella, president; Dick McKeeby, first vice president; Ed Paiva, second vice president; Doc Ayers, treasurer; Mary Ann Roe, secretary; and Johnny Regan, historian. Nominations are now being accepted for the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2006, which will be inducted in November. Nomination forms must be submitted by June 17. Forms are available at Newton Trophy & Sport Center, 191 Rte. 15 South, Lafayette, or by calling 973-729-3686. Membership is open to the public for a $15 annual fee. Members can nominate candidates for induction and vote in the annual election in July. The Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame has a web site at aroundthearea.com, where one can view the plaque inscriptions of all 153 inductees, as well as pictures of the Class of 2005.
