Wallkill 3, Jefferson 2 Amanda Nann turned a hat trick performance into the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week honors as Wallkill Valley edged Jefferson 3-2 in overtime to remain unbeaten after two field hockey matches. The senior captain scored twice in the first half and tallied the game-winner in the OT period. Kara Buda dished off a pair of assists while Nicole Travolta was credited with an assist. Jessica Galfo and Stephanie Small scored for the Falcons with Eryn Veninata picking up an assist. Kittatinny 2, Vernon 0 Kelly McCaskill stopped six shots on goal to spur Kittatinny to a 2-0 victory over Vernon on Tuesday in Hampton as both teams finished the contest sporting 1-1 records. Kelsey Roberts netted the game-winning tally in the first half off a feed from Melissa Kistle while Lauren Nicomini added a insurance goal in the second half with Maxien Mitjans picking up an assist. PJ 2, High Point 1 Pope John pulled out a 2-1 victory over High Point in overtime when Kasey Homa drilled the ball into the Wildcats’ cage from the top of the circle with three minutes left in in the OT period. Alexa Dalzell opened the scoring for the Lions in the first half with Meloney O’Connor dishing off assists on both goals. Kaiti Robertazzi knotted the score for High Point in the second half off an assist from Jess Grimm. Lenape 2, Sparta 1 Despite 17 saves by goalie Stephanie Morris, Sparta dropped a 2-1 decision to Lenape Valley. Kelly Huber and Tempe Newson scored in the first half for the Patriots with Lisa Duckles and Tempe Newson picking up assists. LVR’s goalie Samantha Merferding came up with six saves. Newton 7, Hopatcong 0 Newton buried Hopatcong 7-0 as the Braves peppered the Chiefs’ goal with 42 official shots, 35 of which were stopped by Kim Downey. Dani Jones had only one save in recording the shutout for the Braves as Kim Parks netted a pair of goals. Kelly Churchill, Emma Corcoran, Lisa Granwehr, Amanda Miller and Katy Provenzale tallied solo goals with Natalie Elvidge distributing two assists. Chelsea Kahn and Miller picked up assists.
