    Vernon 5, Hopatcong 0 Nicole Piela turned in a hat trick effort to key Vernon’s 5-0 rout of Hopatcong in an SCIL girls’ soccer match played Friday afternoon on Hopatcong. Piela scored three times while Mandy Costello chipped in with a goal and two assists. Piela was selected the Propane Player of the Week as the Lady Vikings evened their record at 4-4. Megan Sjogen completed the scoring when she tallied the only goal of the second half unassisted. Elise Fugowski and Kayla Macerino chippsed in with assists. Pope John 5 Kittatinny 0 Pope John romped to a 5-0 win over Kittatinny as goalie Erin Guthrie came up with five saves when the unbeaten Lions won their eighth straight of the season. Emily Carollo scored twice with Stephanie Barbulescu, Julia Beese and Courtney Flanagan contributing solo goals. Christina Stassi was credited with two assists while Alex Cumello, Danielle DiFrancesco and Flanagan were credited with assists. Jefferson 2, Sparta 1 Jefferson rallied from 1-0 deficit at intermission to defeat Sparta 2-1. Jessica Tate scored off an assist from Liz Ashman to knot the score and dished off an assist on Teresa Espsito’s game-winning tally 12 minutes into the second half. Nicole Silvent excelled between the pipes for the Falcons, turining aside 16 shots on goal. High Point 3, Lenape 1 High Point defeated Lenape Valley 3-1 as Jessica Lain scored twice and dished off an assist on the goal by teammate Ashley Sanborn. Shannon McEvoy was credited with assist while Wildcat keeper Ashley Enst was credited with seven assists. Newton 1, Wallkill 0 Amy Lupfer scored the only goal as Newton edged Wallkill Valley 1-0 with Anna Petersen credited with an assist. Heather Harold, the Braves goalie, made nine saves.
