Wallkill 10, High Point 0 Wallkill Valley got into the win column by blanking High Point 10-0 in Wantage. Lance Baumgartner booted the Rangers into an early lead when he split the uprights with a 26-yard field goal in the opening quarter. Baumgartner sparked the defensive unit, recording 13 tackles, nine of which were solo hits. He also converted a PAT attempt and was named the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week by the Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association. Sophomore Bob Pachella iced the verdict when he found a seam and scampered 55 yards to paydirt in the fourth quarter as he finished with a game-high 147 yards rushing on 22 carries. Lenape 20, Jefferson 12 (OT) Trailing 7-0 after 12 minutes, Lenape Valley rallied to defeat Jefferson 20-13 in overtime on Friday night as the Patriots boosted their record to 4-3 and kept alive their hopes of a post-season NJSIAA playoff bid. Quarterback Robbie Klinck tossed TD strikes of 15 yards to Mike Groome and seven yards to Pat Doran, the only two passes he completed in seven attempts. Groome blasted one-yard into the end zone in OT to propel the Patriots to victory. Sophomore Shane Hosler keyed the defense, picking off a pair of interceptions. Kittatinny 20, Sparta 0 Following a scoreless first half, Kittatinny rolled to a 20-0 victory over Sparta to improve to 5-2 while the Spartans sagged to 3-4. Richie Joseph sandwich TD runs of three and four yards around a 52-yard touchdown pass thrown by Anthony Cerbo to Kevin Ryan. On the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Brian Bach captured the spotlight recovering a fumble and picking off an interception in the end zone. Hopatcong 27, Vernon 14 Hopatcong rolled to its sixth straight success, defeating Vernon 27-14 as Joe Martinek added to his state-record rushing total by toting the pigskin 33 times for 211 yards and TD runs of five, six and 65 yards. Vernon quarterback Dan Lisa scored twice on runs of nine and eight yards. PJ 61, Newton 19 Pope John remained unbeaten as the Lions routed Newton 61-19 for their seventh straight victory. Jeremy Tucker rushed for 396 yards while scoring five times on runs of one, 12, 66 and 44 yards in addition to returning a kicking 80 yards into the end zone. Quarterback Eugene McGuire added TD strikes of 30 and 44 yards to Theo Lusardi in the second quarter. Newton’s Steve Zander returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and flipped a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jared Zappa.
