Hopatcong hoopsters go 1-3

Pat Coote and Mike Tobin split 24 points down the middle but Hopatcong fell to High Point 74-54 in an SCIL boys basketball game played in Wantage. The Chiefs fell behing 21-12 after eight minutes of action and could never regain a lead. Ian Evans netted nine points with Greg Pelissir popping seven points into the basket. Two days earlier, the Chiefs has defeated Pope John 45-37 as Tobin topped all scorers when he flipped 16 points through the twine. Evans chipped in with seven points while Coote added six and Anthony Bumbaco scored five. Christine Estevez dominated in the paint, posting a double-double but Hopatcong was routed 50-19 by High Point in an SCIL girls hoops’ contest. Estevez tickled the twine with 10 points, grabbed a dozen rebounds and blocked five shots. Kristy Jacobelis hit the hoop for 11 points while Estevez and Megan Tobin tallied six apiece in a 50-31 loss to Pope John.
