Jimmy Alexander chipped in with a goal and assist while P.J. Moore added a solo tally. Goalie Steve Messina excelled between the pipes, turning aside 39 of 40 shots on goal as the Lions upped their record to 8-3-4. PJ 4, St. John 3 A day earlier, Alexander recorded a hat trick effort as the Lions rallied from a 3-1 deficit to edge St. John Vianney 4-3. Alexander was named the Villa Capri II/Pope John Athlete of the Week while Greg Kreisinger added a third period goal. Newton 4, East Side 3 The next day, Newton edged East Side/Newark 4-3 on goals by Eric Budd, Derek D’Agostino, Zak Hathaway and Jonathan Miller with Justin Nunziato, Pat Wilson and Blake Wolos picking up assists.
