    Branchville’s Matthew Majka won the 2006 International Trade Center Triathlon contested Saturday in Mount Olive. The 27-year-old completed the challenging competition in 1:20:54 to finish first among 151 tri-athletes who completed the scenic course at the Triathlon Activities Field. It was a unique experience that started with a 14K mountain bike course over 4 different surfaces. The tri-athletes then hopped into one of 375 identical red canoes to paddle through a 4K buoyed course on Budd Lake before finishing with a 5K run on varied terrain of road, trails and fields. Hopatcong’s 26-year old Melissa Kern was the first female tri-athlete to cross the line, placing sixth overall in 1:27:12. Local finishers (Compliments of njtriathlon.com) 1.
