    Brittany Gerritsen scattered three hits and fanned seven as Jefferson edged High Point 5-3 to clinch a tie for the SCIL softball title. Leading 2-1, Jefferson pushed three runs across the plate in the top of the fourth keyed by RBI singles off the bats of Kelly Mulligan and Jenna Pettoni. Mike McCrea hurled a two-hitter, fanning 14 in blanking Belvidere 4-0 in a non-league baseball game played Thursday in Warren County. The Falcons snapped a scoreless pitching duel by pushing four runs across the plate in the top of the seventh. Matt Kern and Jim Quigg executed successful squeeze bunts to plate runs. Nick Ferrussi tallied six goals and dished off an assist to spur Jefferson to a rout of 14-4 as he reached the 150-point plateau for his career. Jason Koontz tallied five goals and distributed five assists while Dan Soleau scored twice and Adam Koontz netted a goal and matched his brother, dishing off five assists.
