Kittatinny defeats Mountain Lakes

Kittatinny Regional High School defeated Mountain Lakes High School in varsity field hockey on Friday, Oct. 30. The final score was 2-1. The quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 tournament took place at Kittatinny Regional High School in Newton.

The Kittatinny Cougars nor the Mountain Lakes Lakers could score in the first half. In the second half Kittatinny scored the first goal of the game accomplished by Hailee Lolk around the five minute mark in regulation. Mountain Lakes responded with a goal accomplished by Jane Brennan with about two minutes remaining.

Jennifer Smalley scored on a penalty strike with less than a minute remaining to move third-seeded Kittatinny past sixth-seeded Mountain Lakes.

Kittatinny goal keeper Carly Palmer made six saves. Mountain Lakes goal keeper Meghan Cuozzo made 11 saves.

Kittatinny, advances to face second-seeded Pompton Lakes in the semifinals.

Team records are now Kittatinny 8-8-1, Mountain Lakes 8-8-1.
