Local gymnasts shine in state competition
Westys Gymnastics did great this year at the States, and recorded several podium finishes at the 2019 US Association of International Gymnastic Clubs (USAIGC) NJ State Championship held in Wildwood, NJ. Westys also placed well in the Nationals 2019 USAIGC/Independent Gymnastic Clubs World Championships held in Nashville, TN.
At the State Championship, Hailey Jenkins, 8, of Lafayette competed in the 7‐9 Year Old Silver Division. Jenkins was crowned the State Champion on the Floor Exercise and Vault. She also placed 2nd on Balance Beam, Uneven Bars and All All Around.
Olivia Fisher, 10, of Hardyston competed in the 10 year old Gold Division. Fisher was crowned the All Around State Champion and placed 1st on each of the individual events. Lexi Ingoglia, 11, of Lake Hopatcong competed in the 11‐12 Year Old Gold Division. Her podium finishes include 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Floor.
Ingoglia along with Chelsea Smith, 10, of Hardyston and Adrianna Barone, 13, of Hardyston represented Westys at the World Championship where gymnasts from 12 different countries competed. Ingoglia took the Bronze in the All Around in the 11‐12 Year Old Gold Division and qualified to compete in all four event finals where she earned three more Bronze medals. Barone qualified to the Uneven Bars final in the 13 Year Old Silver Division and placed 9th. The coaches at Westys are very pleased that these athletes finished their successful competitive season on a high note.
