Local talent competes at TransWorld contest at Mountain Creek
Mountain Creek and TransWorld Snowboarding magazine teamed up on Saturday to host the third stop of the TransAm Rail Jam - a national amateur snowboarding series presented by High Cascade. Over 200 amateur snowboarders both local and from across the region were given the opportunity to ride the custom-designed mini slopestyle course. The contest was geared to test riders’ imaginations with a custom-designed minislope side course that gave plenty of opportunity to show creativity, innovation and skill. The event was open to all snowboarders in possession of a season pass or valid lift ticket. In the men’s division, first place went to Alan Strack. Scott Mornney landed second, and Cody Bush took third. For the women, first place went to Katie Cappett with Libby Ireland and Tara Collins sweeping second and third, respectively. The athletes showed off their skills and hoped to get noticed by TransWorld Snowboarding Magazine, which will feature these top three men and women on its Web site, www.transworldsnowboarding.com. Additional awards were given out throughout the event for categories such as “Most Bon Jovi” and “Most H&M”. (Photos by Eileen Stanbridge)
