    SPARTA — The Main St. 5k/10k Festival & Fitness Expo to support Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) of Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties, will be held Saturday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Fieldhouse at Sparta, 115 Sparta Ave. in Sparta, and the Sparta Athletic Club campus. The festival will include health, fitness and entertainment demonstrations. There will also be a silent auction, activities for children and adults, roller derby girls, door prizes and massage therapists. A drawing for the grand prize of a professional propane grill donated by Eastern Propane will be held at 11:45 a.m. Runners and walkers can bring a change of clothes and are encouraged to stay for the festivities, awards and door prizes given out until noon. Health food and fitness vendors interested in a table at the fitness expo must register by April 15. To register for the run/walk and to obtain a course map, visit www.mainstreetevents.org. Packet pickup for the event, presented by non-profit Main Street Events and Newton Medical Center, will be at the Sparta Stop & Shop, 5 Town Center Drive in Sparta, on Friday, April 20, from 5-8 p.m. Sponsors include Eastern Propane, First Hope Bank, Stop & Shop, Sparta Athletic Club and the Fieldhouse of Sparta, McGivney and Kluger, Lakeland Bank, Performance Rehabilitation and Performance Pediatrics, Reliv - Multiple Hydration Stations, Cailey Jewelers and Dykstra Associates. SONJ of Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties provides year-round sports training in 24 sports and offers over 160 competitions state-wide to more than 22,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, completely free of charge. There are over 300 participants from Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties. The goal is to develop sports skills, competition readiness and a level of health and fitness to prepare for successful participation in the special olympics, and in their communities.
