May 15 golf outing to benefit brain research foundation

Sparta - The IES Brain Research Foundation will hold a benefit golf outing starting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15, at the Lake Mohawk Golf Club in Sparta. In addition to playing in the golf tournament, area residents can participate by sponsoring, attending the hors d’oeurves, dinner and silent auction, volunteering, or by donating items for the raffle, door prizes or goodie bags. Registration, putting contest, lunch and silent auction bidding will start at 9:30 a.m. Free chair massage and a warm up will be offered by Par Excellence. The shotgun start will be at 12:30 p.m., and hors d’oeurves, dinner, recommencement of the silent auction bidding, and raffles will start at 5 p.m. Several items will be auctioned live. Raffle tickets for a Clerc watch (value $1,125) donated by Parian Jewelers and 50/50 raffles will be sold throughout the day and evening. The raffle drawings will be at 8 p.m. Winner of the watch raffle need not be present at the drawing. Golfers have a choice of playing their own ball (individual score) or playing a scramble (everyone hits from the best shot). Non-golfing dinner guests are encouraged to come. The goal of the foundation is to help advance research and education in the area of brain research that will lead to effective treatments for addiction, pain and other brain diseases and conditions. The IES Brain Research Foundation works to attract young people to the field of brain research and provides funds for lectures to educate the public in this area. Proceeds of the golf outing will go towards the foundation’s summer student fellowship program and speakers bureau.
