Miners bury Jackals on the diamond

— The Sussex County Miners (Augusta, N.J.) defeated the New Jersey Jackals (Little Falls, N.J.) in minor league baseball on Saturday July 21, 2018. The final score was 7-3. The game was played at Skylands Stadium in Augusta.
The Sussex County Miners continued to play well as they won their fifth straight game. Recently acquired pitcher Michael Wagner made an impressive debut by striking out seven batters in the first four innings. In six innings of work Wagner gave up an earned run on seven hits and struck out eight batters.
The hitting by the Miners was also solid. The Miners blasted 13 hits in the contest. Sussex County's Martin Figueroa went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI. Mikey Reynolds had two hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored and an RBI. Audy Ciriaco contributed three hits and Luis Alen contributed a pair of hits and three runs batted in for the Miners.
Seth Spivey went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Jackals.
The Miners (42-19) ran up their win streak to seven games, matching a franchise high, and completing a sweep of the Jackals (29-31) in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Skylands Stadium. The final scores were 8-3 and 5-2 respectively. The Miners swept a five-game series for the first time in franchise history.
