Multi-sport camp offered to kids

Children can experience 10-15 different sports in one week at Jefferson’s multi-sports camp this summer. The Jefferson Township Recreation Department and the US Sports Institute is offering a unique experience this summer for all 5- to 7-year-olds and 7- to 14-year-olds. USSI will provide the opportunity for these children to experience 10 to15 different sports in one week, dedicated to the truly sports-minded youngster with a half-day camp session for the younger children and a full day camp session for the older children at two locations in Jefferson Township. The half-day camp session for 5- to 7-year-olds will run from Monday through Friday, July 31 through August 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chamberlain Field located on Chamberlain Road off Berkshire Valley Road (in the Waters Edge development) in the Milton/Oak Ridge area of the township. The program will be repeated August 7 through 11 at Lakeside Field located on Route 15 South and Bowling Green Parkway (behind the Dunkin’ Donuts) in the Lake Hopatcong area. This half-day camp will offer younger participants the opportunity to experience over ten sports in one week where they will receive technical instruction in each sport and then experience the sport in a realistic game situation. After their lunch period, all campers will participate in the USSI Olympic Games and World Cup. The cost for this half-day camp for 5- to 7-year-olds is $155 per child. The full day camp session for 7- to 14-year-olds will run from Monday through Friday, July 31 through August 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chamberlain Field located on Chamberlain Road off Berkshire Valley Road (in the Waters Edge development) in the Milton/Oak Ridge area of the township. The program will be repeated Monday through Friday, August 7 through 11 at Lakeside Field located on Route 15 South and Bowling Green Parkway (behind the Dunkin’ Donuts) in the Lake Hopatcong area. The full-day camp offers campers the chance to experience many additional sports and sports challenges in addition to the entire sports line up of the half-day camp. Activities may vary dependent on facilities available at each location and could include Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Bocce, Cricket, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Handball, Lacrosse, Net Ball, Pillo Polo, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball, World Cup, and Olympics. The fee will be $175 per child for the session.
