Newton wins team golf crown in SCIL Festival
Elliot Wilton, a Jefferson senior, won his first SCIL Golf Festival at the par-70 Bear Brook Golf Club in Fredon. Wilton carded an 18-hole round of 81 and won the title on the second playoff hole against Pope John freshman Drew Falvey. Newton captured its first-ever SCIL Festival team title as the Braves placed four golfers in the Top 10. In 1976, the Braves won the regular-season title in the first-year of the SCIL but lost in the Festival to Franklin, which has since been merged into the Wallkill Valley School District.
