WEST MILFORD — The Highlanders football team snapped a three game skid with an impressive 15-3 victory over West Side at McCormack Field last Friday night. In the first quarter Paul Fogg drilled a 33-yard kick between the posts to afford the home team the early lead. The defense held West Side down, forcing a punt which Dave Griffiths returned to the end zone, extending the Highlander lead to 9-0 by the end of the quarter. The second quarter showed more stingy defense from the Highlanders, keeping West Side from pay dirt. The offense found its stroke before the half, as Robert Howell capped a scoring drive with a touchdown run that extended the West Milford advantage to 15 - 0. Before the intermission, West Side’s Sheldon McFarland got the visitor’s on the board with a 24-yard field goal. Defensive adjustments kept both teams scoreless in the second half, as West Milford hung on for a 15-3 victory.
