Nutley loses to Wolverines 12U

    WEST MILFORD — On Saturday, April 29, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club drubbed Nutley 10-1 in their Triple Play Sports League contest at Nutley Eastern Field. The victory improved West Milford’s record to 2-0 for the season. Karl Pappacena (2-IP, 2-K, 0-ER), Tyler Maurer (3-IP, 1-K, 0-ER), and Tim Scott (2-IP, 1-K, 0-ER) were outstanding on the hill for the Wolverines. In the top of the first, after Maurer reached on an error, Scott and Nick Conlon hit RBI singles to allow West Milford to jump to a quick 2-0 lead. In the third inning, Greg Tompkins led off with a single. Maurer’s deep double drove in Tompkins for another run. Scott, Conlon, Tyler Patalita, and Andrew Clifford hit consecutive singles to make the score 6-1. In the fourth frame, Tompkins reached on an error, stole second and third, then was driven home on Scott’s RBI groundout to make the score 8-1. In the sixth inning, after Maurer walked, Scott’s long double drove him in to increase West Milford’s lead to 9-1. Finally, in the seventh inning, Dan DeBlock’s RBI groundout scored Patalita with the Wolverines’ final run.
